IMGA - an Initiative for Mobile Gaming Excellence
The International Mobile Gaming Awards is an international award granted in recognition of excellence in mobile gaming. It was established in 2004 and provides an annual competition for the most innovative and creative mobile games in the world.
The IMG Awards objective is to offer a platform to mobile gaming studios, developers, students and researchers for presenting their new ideas and creations for the future of mobile gaming. An international jury picks the best 25 original and appealing ideas that are technically feasible.
Leading companies in the mobile entertainment world provide the resources for these 25 nominees to enable them to realize and apply their ideas for the competition. This way the IMGA combines industry leaders and top quality talent to display them to a worldwide audience.
The media research group, Screen Digest, stated that by the year 2010 there will be a global base of more than 2 billion games-enabled mobile handsets and the market will be worth around 6.4 billion U.S. dollars. That certainly sounds like a worthwhile area to get into, and the Mobile Gaming Awards are just the thing to attract innovators and get them to push for more and more original and creative gaming concepts for mobile devices.
IMGA: a Sign of Recognition for Mobile Gaming
The IMG Awards are a sign of recognition of excellence in mobile games both for the companies already in the industry and for the individuals who are trying, with their special skills and unique talents, to develop and produce games with interactive applications for mobile devices.
Winners of these awards are announced at formal ceremonies. The last, in February 2008, was held in Barcelona.
